Back Home
I am back home from Ft. Worth and I am glad I am no longer driving. On the way there I started to get a cold and did not leave my cousin's house all day on Saturday. While my wife went to Christmas Eve service with my family, I stayed in bed. Christmas day I started to feel a bit better, but now my wife is sick.
I went I-35 instead of 281 this time because I had to make some stops in New Braunfels and San Marcos. I saw no deer, but many of the drivers on I-35 were terrible and I was glad we did not take the new car. Although I saw several several state troopers giving people tickets, I suspect they were all speeding tickets and not reckless driving tickets. At one point on Friday it took an hour to go about 2 miles because of a semi and two cars that had an accident. The worst drivers the way there were a pair of motorcycle drivers weaving in and out of Ft. Worth traffic during rush hour on Friday while sticking there legs out in front of their bikes. Damn punk kids!
Then today there was a pair of semis that drove right next to each other for about ten minutes and would not let anyone pass even though there was about a mile of open road in front of them. And there was the pickup that tailgated about a foot behind every driver that could not get out of his way instantly (because there were other cars on the road, this being the day after Christmas after all) while going close to 70 mph. I hate I-35 drivers more than I hate deer because the deer don't have a choice about being stupid.
On the plus side I drove through Austin at around 4 pm today and there was no traffic, so there was my Christmas miracle. Even if it takes an extra hour to visit my family and I have to drive through a herd of deer, I do not think I will drive I-35 again any time soon and will go 281 instead.
I am also glad I live in the southern part of Texas. The northern part is always very bleak during winter.
My internet may be out the next few days, so that will explain the lack of posting.
