Democrats Oppose Bush Nominee

So the Washington Post has an article about some former ambassadors who do not like John Bolton, Bush's nominee to be the next U.S. ambassador to the UN.

The Post story states,

The ex-diplomats have served in both Democratic and Republican administrations, some for long terms and others briefly. They include Arthur A. Hartman, ambassador to France and the Soviet Union under presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan and assistant secretary of state for European affairs under President Richard M. Nixon.

Others who signed the letter include Princeton N. Lyman, ambassador to South Africa and Nigeria under presidents Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton; Monteagle Stearns, ambassador to Greece and Ivory Coast in the Ford, Carter and Reagan administrations; and Spurgeon M. Keeny Jr., deputy director of the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency in the Carter administration.

So I went to opensecrets.org to find out who they donated to in the last election cycle. While no donations were listed for Monteagle Stearns, the other three diplomats mentioned all had made donations to either Democrat candidates like John Kerry or Democrat institutes like the DNC. Here are the records for Arthur A Hartman (who lists his occupation as retired diplomat and donated to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Cmte and the anti-Bush group Diplomats & Commanders for Change), Spurgeon M Keeny (who donated to John Kerry), and Princeton N Lyman (who donated to the DNC Services Corp and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Cmte). I wonder why the Washington Post did not bother to report this information in the story.
