MADD

I have long been opposed to the 21 year old drinking age. I think it needs to be lowered to 18 at least. 16 would be ok with me as well, but Ill take 18. First I am opposed as to how it came to be, with Elizabeth Dole imposing her views on every state in what is an issue that should be decided by states. Second I think 18 year olds who are already allowed to vote, drive, join our military and kill people, marry, have kids, own guns, own a house, etc. should be allowed to have a beer. Third, there is no indication that the laws have worked to stop kids from drinking and may in fact encourage binge drinking.

The Agitator has a good posting about how MADD has decided that trying to stop kids from drinking is more important than actually stopping drunk driving (via The Corner). MADD no longer serves the purpose for which it was formed: stopping drunk drivers.

Oh, and Dan Rather should be fired.
