I had promised not to complain about Rather

Dude, I try to lay off of Rather for a while and then he goes and pulls a stunt like this. Basing a news report on an email forward? And then not reporting relevant facts like the effort to bring back the draft has been an almost entirely Democrat effort? Now, according to LGF, CBS has falsely altered the transcript of last nights broadcast to include a line that was not broadcast. What the hell CBS? Do you not care that your reputation is in shambles or are you trying to corner the coveted tinfoil hat leftist demographic?

I once attended a Barbara Bush speech and as much as like the lady, her speech sucked because she relied on email forwards to make factual points multiple times in her speech. First of all most of her audience were college kids so we had already been forwarded these before and second they were the sappy ones that I hate (although I love this one). I would rather she cut the speech short than include these. No one who relies on email forwards to make a factual point without doing extensive research showing that the email is true should have their ideas respected. I could almost forgive Barbara Bush since she might not have known that emails like this are often fakes, but Dan A serious journalist cant run with a story without confirmation Rather should know better and should be fired.

Update: I tried to find this link earlier via instapundit, but it was down. Basically John Kerry has advocated a mandatory one year of service for all young people before. Here is cached version of the proposal that used to be on John Kerry's website (via say anything). For some odd reason CBS chose not include this relevant bit of information in their report.
