CBS Statement

According to drudge this is the statement that CBS postponed several times this day and spent all day preparing:

'We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing.'

It took them all day long to write this with several postments of its release. I suspect there was a lot of wrangling with lawyers and Dan Rather's ego to figure out what to put out. For the plus side for CBS I turned on CBS news for about five minutes tonight and that is more than I have watched it for years.

Oh, and Dan Rather should be fired.
